Global search — everything behind one ⌘K
Search across every project at once, however many you have.
⌘K (Ctrl+K) from anywhere
Open the palette
⌘K / Ctrl+K — from anywhere (it stays inactive while you are typing in a text field). Clicking the magnifier icon in the sidebar does the same.
Type a query
Type two or more characters to see matching results.
↑↓ + Enter
Move through the results with the keyboard and press Enter to open one. Esc closes the palette.
Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) on any screen and the search palette opens in the middle of the window. Results are grouped by category the moment you start typing.
The eight categories that get searched
- Tasks — matches titles and descriptions
- Pages — matches titles and body text
- Planning items — matches specs and action items
- Databases — matches database names and their main entries
- Comments — matches comments on tasks and pages
- Memos — matches your own personal memos
- Daily notes — matches the body of each date's note
- Chat — matches the body of channel and DM messages
What chat search covers
- Click a channel message to jump straight to that message.
- A DM result opens the conversation (jumping to a specific message is channel-only).
- Deleted messages are not searched.
- Type something like
in:chat deployto search chat only.
Chat results only include conversations you are actually in. DMs appear only where you are a participant, and a private channel appears only if you are a member of that channel — being a project member is not enough. There is no exception for admins.
Ranking
Results that match in the title come first, and the ones that only matched in the body come after. Korean words are handled so they match naturally too.
Narrowing to one project
Press ⌘K inside a project screen and results are automatically limited to that project. Move to a different project and search there, and it narrows to that one instead. For a search across everything, use the search entry in the sidebar.
Tips
- Two or three key words are faster than a long sentence.
- Queries containing special characters can be typed as-is.
- Results from projects you have no access to are excluded automatically.
- Clicking a result navigates in the same window, so search → work → search again stays fast.
