How to invite teammates

1

Open project settings

Choose Settings in the project sidebar to go to the project settings. Under Members in the menu on the left you can see who is in the project, and under Invites you can bring in new people. Invites is visible only to Owners and Admins, and the Invite members button under Members leads to the same screen.

2

Invite by email

Under Invite by email on the Invites screen, enter the recipient's email address, pick a permission (Admin, Member, or Viewer for an Owner; Member or Viewer for an Admin), and click Send invitation email. The invitation is valid for 7 days, and under Manage invitations below you can copy the link, resend it, or cancel it.

TIPInvitations go out one address at a time. You cannot send to an address that is already a member or that already has a pending invitation — if it is pending, use Resend.
3

Share an invite link

Under Invite by link, pick a permission (Member or Viewer), click Create link, then use Copy and share the address anywhere — Slack, KakaoTalk, email. The link is valid for 7 days and can be used up to 100 times; the list shows how many times it was used, and Revoke link blocks it at once.

What each role can do

  • Owner — full permissions, including deleting the project and billing
  • Admin — inviting members, changing permissions, and editing. Only the Owner can invite, assign, or remove an Admin, and billing and deleting the project are the Owner's as well
  • Member — edit permissions for tasks, Wiki, chat, and more
  • Viewer — read-only for tasks, wiki, and databases, and cannot write comments. Chat messages and polls are the exception (the implementation only checks channel membership)
  • You can check each role's permissions in a table under Roles & permissions in the project settings

Free plan limits

On the Free plan up to 4 people, yourself included, can join a project, and that limit follows the plan of the project's owner. One account can belong to (create + accept invites for) up to 3 projects, and that limit follows the plan of the person joining. If you need more teammates or projects, upgrade to the paid Storage 20GB, Storage 100GB, or Lifetime plan. Storage 20GB allows 10 people per project and 30 projects to join; Storage 100GB and Lifetime allow 20 people per project and 100 projects to join. When you reach a limit, you see a limit message as you send an invitation email or accept an invitation. A subscription can be canceled at any time.

Inviting to a team

1

Open team settings

Teams are managed under Team in your account Settings, not in the project settings: create a team (Create team) or pick one you already belong to. Invites for a team are visible only to that team's Owners and Admins.

2

Invite to the team by email

Under Invites, enter the email to invite and a role (Admin, Member, Read only, or Guest), then click Send invitation. Only the Owner can give the Admin role, and a team that has turned read-only cannot invite new members. The recipient becomes a member by opening the link in the email, signing in with the account for the invited address, and accepting. The link is valid for 7 days, and a pending invitation can be canceled in the same place.

3

What a team role opens

Team roles are separate from project roles. Owners and Admins can reach every project of the team, while Members and Read only see only the team roster and settings, and open only the projects they were invited to. Guests see only the projects they were invited to and do not use a seat.

CAUTIONAdding someone to the team as a Member or Read only does not open any project by itself. Invite them separately, with the steps above, to each project they will work in.
